Paul Admits to Deceit
| 1 Corinthians 9:19 For though I be free from
all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all,
that I might gain the more. (20) And unto the
Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews;
to them that are under the law, as under the law,
that I might gain them that are under the law; (21)
To them that are without law, as without law, (being
not without law to God, but under the law to
Christ,) that I might gain them that are without
law. (22) To the weak became I as weak, that I
might gain the weak: I am made all things to all
men, that I might by all means save some. (23) And
this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be
partaker thereof with you. (KJV) |
So basically
Paul is saying that he pretended to be who he wasn't to further
his agenda and get people to accept his teachings. He says
he did it for the gospel's sake, but God doesn't use deceit.
Further, Paul has the following to say:
| 2 Corinthians 12:16 But be it so, I did not
burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you
with guile. (KJV) |
Paul admits to
being crafty and using guile. Who else in the bible also
achieved their agenda by using guile? Let us see:
| Genesis 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the
woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the
woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
(KJV) |
What else does
the bible say about speaking guile?
| Exodus 21:14 But if a man come presumptuously
upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou
shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die. (KJV)
Psalm 32:2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD
imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is
no guile. (KJV)
Psalm 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy
lips from speaking guile. (KJV)
Psalm 55:11 Wickedness is in the midst
thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her
streets. (KJV)
1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and
see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil,
and his lips that they speak no guile: (KJV)
Revelations 14:5 And in their mouth was found
no guile: for they are without fault before the
throne of God. (KJV) |

Not exactly
godly attributes. If we were to read the Bible, the first
act of deception we run across is that of the serpent deceiving
Eve into eating the apple. Combine this with the other
problems found with Paul (see Paul section under Christianity
button of this website for more) and there truly is much to
think about.
Let us see the
